У Дональда Трампа отец, Франк Трамп, в конце жизни страдал от деменции. Прожил он в этом состоянии дольше среднего, явно благодаря хорошо оплаченной медицинской помощи. Оказывается, для специалиста у Трампа уже заметны симптомы:

Хотя это еще не совсем старческое слабоумие, а предварительные признаки.

С одной стороны, слышала, что теперь вроде есть новые средства, замедляющие эти процессы. С другой - статье уже 3 года.

But to his fans, it's not going to matter. If he loses this election, he's going to ragequit and say it was rigged of course, then sit on his Truth Social media throne and grow less and less coherent... But he'll still make lots of money, have lots of support, and have lots of influence. Right up to the point where he's so incoherent that he's not even functional. Then the lionizing and the farewell tours and the revisionist history will start...

Thanks for your observations! Sorry to hear about your father. Losing a loved one slowly, day by day, is rather devastating.
Although for Trump's fans his dementia does not matter, for GOP is crucial that Trump will keep doing what the party wants for him to do. What if he will forget? He was a Democrat most of his life.

I wonder though, would it be harder for the party? I mean, during his last term, he could get obsessed about things for days or weeks, derailing their plans... With dementia, he can't even do that. Maybe the people "handling" him would have an easier time.

I really hope we never have to find out.

In nursing homes, tranquilizers are prescribed in such cases. Since now he frequent republican events less often, it is possible that during such episodes they give him a sedative and release him into public when he has became "safe" to show.
